Speeches
The address of His Highness the Prime Minister at the National Assembly on the occasion of the closing of the second ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term.
  11 July 2007

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Brother Speaker of the venerable National Assembly,

Esteemed members of the National Assembly,

I am pleased, on behalf of myself and on behalf of fellow ministers, as we meet today on the closing of the second ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term of your venerable assembly, to express appreciation for the efforts exerted in shouldering the national responsibility of which we are all devoted to.

Brother Speaker, esteemed members,

We are not in a position today to review the accomplishments. The current session has witnessed, as always, a government presentation characterized by transparency and objectivity to all issues discussed in your assembly. The government has spared no effort in providing all necessary means for your assembly to carry out its role and practice its constitutional commitments to perfection.

Perhaps today, we are in more need than any other time for serious soul searching on the basis of the responsibility placed on us; to review the means of our usual practices according to our democratic system, particularly in light of the developments and changes that require us to give the attention and follow-up they merit.

Brother Speaker and esteemed members of the National assembly,

The democracy we have chosen is the fate and choice of Kuwait, it is the means to develop hope, aspirations and accomplishments that the people of Kuwait anticipate.
Kuwait's prosperity requires sincere and continuous action to confront the great responsibilities and devote all energy and potentials to achieve further accomplishments in the framework of joint responsibilities, mutual confidence and constructive understanding in cooperation between both powers.

Brother Speaker and esteemed members of the National Assembly,

I am pleased at the closing of the current session, to extend my gratitude to all employees in your venerable assembly, including experts, advisors, researchers and technicians, as well as the media and the press whom gave serious assistance to accomplish the work of the venerable assembly, whether from within the assembly, or otherwise, and in all State apparatus. We look forward to meeting soon by the will of Allah to continue our national course towards achieving our objectives in a positive spirit and responsibly with the guardianship and directives of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince.

Wassalamu Alikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
