|The address of His Highness the Prime Minister at the joint meeting between the Cabinet and the Supreme Council for Planning and Development|
|4 November 2010|
In the Holy name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.
Ladies and Gentlemen….Venerable members of the Cabinet,
Assalamu Alikum Warahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.
I would like to begin by welcoming a dear member of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, expressing our sincere felicitations at the confidence entrusted in him by His Highness the Amir. Undeniably, Ahmad Baqer is recognized for his wide experience and distinguished expertise in various fields, and is an asset to the council, we pin high hopes on him.
We ask the Almighty Allah for success in serving the country and citizens.
It is with pleasure that I welcome you all today, as we commence the joint meeting between the Cabinet and the Supreme Council for Planning and Development to discuss an important multi faceted issue, which is the status of illegal residents, a problem that has accumulated negative results over the past decades with its numerous security, humanitarian, social and economic dimensions.
The Cabinet issued a resolution instructing the Supreme Council for Planning and Development to study the situation of illegal residents, this came as a result of the confidence entrusted in the council by His Highness the Amir to confront the issues and problems that concern the country and people. The confidence placed in the council is well deserved in light of the expertise and distinguished qualifications that shape the council. The Council has formed a committee chaired by Saleh Al-Fadalah and prominent members of the Council to provide the mechanisms and instruments to reach effective solutions to this problem.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I cannot but express our gratitude and appreciation for this important achievement, while emphasising that the solutions shall not overstep the elements of preserving our identity and national resolve, since this is a historical responsibility of which we are accountable, and the responsibility of a nation laid on our shoulders. We shall therefore remain committed and respectful to all.
To conclude, it is noteworthy to commend the constructive efforts and spirit of responsibility that the Supreme Council for Planning and Development incorporates, it is a good example of positive cooperation to achieve the interests, progress and prosperity for our dear country. I pray to the Almighty for our success in achieving the welfare of the country and the people through the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince.
Wassalamu Alikum Warahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.
