HisHighness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Shuwaikh Palace, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Kuwait, Mr. Etienne Thévoz, on the occasion of the end of his tenure in the country.

HisHighness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Shuwaikh Palace, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Kuwait, Mr. Etienne Thévoz, on the occasion of the end of his tenure in the country. His Highness also held a luncheon banquet in honor of His Excellency. The banquet was attended by State seniors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the country. His Highness delivered, on this occasion, a French speech in which he said, "We are meeting today to bid farewell to His Excellency Ambassador Etienne Thévoz, who played a key role in the development of Swiss-Kuwaiti Relations. We wish him all the success in representing his country in the rest of the world.

His Highness also said that "Swiss-Kuwaiti relations are seen as a successful model of diplomatic relations, which have recently reached their closest level," noting that "Kuwaitis can never forget the historical position of Switzerland during the invasion of Saddam Hussein, when Switzerland supported the legitimate position of Kuwait to the United Nations and international organizations. It also welcomed the Kuwaitis who were in Switzerland at that time, and wide opened its doors to them, including schools, until the liberation of the country. "

His Highness affirmed that Kuwait does not forget its friends, and that is an essential rule of the Kuwaiti diplomacy, which pillars were set by His Highness the Emir of Kuwait. This diplomacy is based on communication with everyone within the framework of international and Arab conventions; it seeks to bring together and reconcile instead of arguing and cutting ties within a framework of mutual respect, and believes in the importance of the humanitarian role towards afflicted and needy peoples.

His Excellency the Ambassadorof the Swiss Confederation, Mr. Etienne Thévoz, also delivered a speech in which he expressed his deep gratitude and thanks to the Emir, Government and people of Kuwait, where he spent four years in diplomatic work.

He underlined the pioneerand effective role of Kuwait in the humanitarian field, while noting the similarity between the Swiss and Kuwaiti experiences, in the defense of human rights and support of afflicted and needy peoples.  He also pointed out the deep and strong relations between Kuwait and the Swiss Confederation in many areas, and wished Kuwait more prosperity and stability.
