Speeches
Speech of His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at the lunch banquet held in honor of His Excellency Mr. Aldo De Luca, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation on the occasion of the end of his mission in Kuwait
  14th March 2018

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
And prayer and peace be upon Prophet Mohammed bin Abdullah, his family and all his companions

His Excellency Mr. and Mrs. Aldo De Luca,

Their Excellencies the Ambassadors and members of the Diplomatic Corps,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It’s my great pleasure to welcome you here today to say farewell to our colleague, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, Mr. Aldo de Luca. As you all know, diplomatic work imposes a lifestyle based on travel and constant change of residence. And with that comes the establishment of new relationships and friendships. I have the impression that the years have passed so quickly. Yesterday we celebrated the arrival of His Excellency the Ambassador and the beginning of his mission in Kuwait, and today we say goodbye to him. However, the value of human relationships is not in the number of years, but rather in the profound impact the person has on the people with whom he has lived. His Excellency the Ambassador has deeply marked this short period he spent with us. He is highly appreciated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and among the members of the diplomatic corps. During the time he spent with us, Swiss-Kuwaiti relations made remarkable progress and witnessed reciprocal visits between the two countries at the highest level. These mutual visits were not limited to officials, but included cultural, academic and economic activities. His Excellency the Ambassador made constructive efforts to ensure the success of these visits, which were marked by the development of economic, cultural and political relations, and by the increase of the number of Kuwaiti tourists visiting Switzerland. Those official visits resulted also in the signing of several agreements between the two countries.

Ladies and gentlemen,

At the end of this brief word, I would like to thank His Excellency the Ambassador Aldo de Luca for all his efforts in the service of our two countries. I would also like to assure him that we were proud to have him among us during the duration of his mission and that we wish him every success in his next mission.

Thank you.
